I’m Michael Pregill, the new Ambassador at re:3D. I’m excited to announce that it’s Gigaprize time again! I’ll be serving as the Project Lead for Gigaprize 2024, taking over from Ryan Murray. We’ve got a great roster of judges lined up for the competition, but we’re always looking for more. If you’re interested in joining us as a judge for this year’s prize, please get in touch with me at michael.pregill@re3d.org!
WHAT IS THE GIGAPRIZE?
The Gigaprize is a competition re:3D runs to support other amazing individuals and groups committed to building community, one layer at a time. For every hundred printers we sell, we donate one Gigabot large-format, industrial filament 3D printer to an individual or organization that will use it for a good cause.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Applying is simple! Make a short video (around three minutes) explaining how you or your organization could benefit from receiving a Gigabot 4 3D printer. After you upload it to our website via the application form, we will add it to our YouTube channel. What would our technology enable you to do? What would it mean for your organization and its mission? What impact would it have on your community? Don’t worry about production quality–you can shoot the video on your cell phone. We’re interested in what you’re saying, not how you look while you’re filming!
Applications are due by 11:59 PM (CST) on December 9, 2024. We will announce the winner of the competition on New Year’s Day 2025 and deliver a Gigabot 4 3D printer to them within eight weeks.
HOW DO I WIN?
Apply early and tell your friends! As soon as we receive the link to your video, our judges will have access to it. They will evaluate submissions according to the following criteria: the originality of your proposed use of the printer and its potential impact on your community; the feasibility of your proposal; and your demonstrated drive and dedication. We will also consider the total number of views of your video on YouTube as well as the total number of likes it receives. We will tally views and likes through the contest deadline on December 9, so post your video as early as possible!
We can’t wait to hear your BIG plans for printing HUGE!
Terms & Conditions: re:3D reserves the right to remove any videos that contain offensive content or that are significantly longer than three minutes. The winning Gigabot will ship in early 2025. Shipping and duty costs will be paid by re:3D. In lieu of a Gigabot 4, the winner may elect to receive store credit towards another 3D printer such as a Gigabot X or a Terabot, or else towards 3D printing services provided by re:3D. Questions can be directed to gigaprize@re3d.org.
WHO ARE OUR JUDGES?
An external team of impartial judges with a wide variety of experience and expertise will evaluate applications for the Gigaprize during the second half of December.
