Our ideal teammate will be responsible for outbound sales targeting and sales reporting for “Gigabot”, the world’s largest, affordable 3D printer, sold in 53 countries. Gigabot markets to both enterprises and end users across diverse applications, including: government agencies, specialty manufacturers, rapid prototypers, universities, artists, and hobbyists, among others.

Competative candidates possess a college degree in STEM, extensive experience in 3D printing, a passion for community, and 1 to 5 years of sales experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or precision tools. Must have competence in sales analysis/targeting, growth hacking, and FFF 3D printer operation.

This position requires effective verbal & written communication skills both in person and in digital/virtual formats. Help us expand our social media presence by creating & posting photo and video content about 3D printing applications, research & development wins, and our community events. This role will be responsible for writing and scheduling posts to go with already-created photos and videos, capturing and posting daily content in our Houston office, and actively engaging with the community through social media.

3D Printing Ninja Intern

Can’t stop thinking about the next thing you want to 3D print? Love tinkering with machines? Enjoy the smell of melted PLA in the mornings? Join our team as a 3D Printing Ninja Intern. This position helps maintain our fleet of industrial, large format-3D printers with mechanical repairs, slicing files for 3D printing, loading, drying and storing print materials and regular 3d printer maintenance. Assist the re:3D team with contract printing, production part printing and have the opportunity to 3D print your own projects on Gigabot’s huge build volume.

Skillsets: High school diploma or GED required, preferred working towards advanced degree. Strong 3D Printing experience. Comfort using hand and power tools to repair machines. Ability to understand and execute assigned work safely in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with maintaining FDM style 3D printers in a multi-machine environment (makerspace or otherwise) preferred.

Sustainability in manufacturing is at the core of re:3D, and you can help advance our research in 3D printing with recycled materials. This position includes hands-on work sorting, granulating & drying recycled plastics, 3D printing with Gigabot X, our pellet & granule extrusion 3D printer, help in researching & testing recycled materials which successfully 3D print with Gigabot X and collaborating with other global stakeholders working to advance recycled 3D printing.

Skillsets:College student in engineering or materials sciences with interest in sustainable manufacturing. 3D printing experience. Comfort with utilizing hand and and industrial power tools to break down large objects. Ability to understand and execute assigned work safely in a manufacturing environment. Ability to interpret materials safety data sheets. Attention to detail.

Computer Science/Engineering Intern

Provide semi-professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as design, development, testing, and/or manufacturing process improvement. Work will be focused on electrical hardware, electronics, and firmware development. Students will perform simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Regular meetings will be scheduled to provide updates to supervisor.
This person performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

  • Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting
  • Testing electrical equipment before it is released for service
  • Developing/updating firmware for 3D printers
  • Maintaining records of work throughout the internship for a final presentation

Sustainable Merchandise Intern

re:3D’s core mission is to 3D print with purpose by developing 3D printers that can print with reclaimed or recycled materials, and our merchandise needs to reflect that. re:3D is currently looking for an intern to work for from May 2016-August 2016 with our Design team. This position is based in our Austin, TX location.

Designers at re:3D work in a wide variety of ways: We define and articulate goals, we capture the voice of our market, we create and implement user studies, we write press releases and blog posts, we manage projects, collaborate with engineers, and much more.

Engineer, design and 3D print a unique, fully functional model that will levitate using unconventional means.

The Toilet Challenge

Design a fully functional 3D printed composting toilet with solar fan to be showcased at a live event.

Terabot

Step into the R&D lab for re:3D and get your hands on re:3D’s largest adventure in 3D printing machines. Use your mechanical and electrical engineering skills in the design and prototyping of an ultra large and precise 3D printer boasting a build volume of more than one meter cubed!

Know Your Filament

Love to 3D print? Excited to try printing with every known filament under the sun? We are looking for someone with a curious mind to work  in collaboration with re:3D and the University of Texas mechanical engineering and additive manufacturing labs to evaluate 3D printing materials. Create ASTM test samples and document filament characteristics for all existing and experimental filaments from semi-flex to potato based filament to high strength carbon fiber and Ultem.

Battery Backup for Current 24V Gigabot

Create a battery backup system for the current Gigabot design, and document the ability to print after losing power for over one hour. Package as a retrofit for the Gigabot so that all of our existing customers can utilize this capability.

Flexible Extrusion

Complete a series of projects to evaluate and increase the capability to print with more materials. Projects include:

  • Developing a protocol to evaluate prints made with new nozzles
  • Hacking a prototype extruder compatible for printing with 6mm “sticks” of PET
  • Evaluating a series of nozzle tips
  • Creating a series of brackets to accept multiple hotend types

You will be responsible for outbound sales targeting and sales reporting for “Gigabot”, the world’s largest, affordable 3D printer, sold in 53 countries. Gigabot markets to both enterprises and end users across diverse applications, including: government agencies, specialty manufacturers, rapid prototypers, universities, artists, and hobbyists, among others.

Ideal candidates possess a college degree in STEM, extensive experience in 3D printing, a passion for community, and 1 to 5 years of sales experience, preferably in manufacturing and/or precision tools. Must have competence in sales analysis/targeting, growth hacking, and FFF 3D printer operation.

This position requires effective verbal & written communication skills both in person and in digital/virtual formats. Proficiency in computer and typing skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office, Dropbox and Google Drive is required. This position requires a candidate that is outgoing, self-directed, flexible, reliable, persistent, and customer service oriented. Frequent travel between Austin & Houston will be required for this role, with occasional travel outside of Texas.
